Performers invited to participate in Zoolights

Get ready to be a part of ZooLights!

Oregon Zoo is celebrating our 2012 ZooLights festival from Wednesday, November 21st through Monday, December 31st. Your performing group is invited to participate in this month-long event.
ZooLights has become a Portland tradition, attracting thousands of visitors. During the festival, the zoo is ablaze with the glow of more than 1,000,000 LED holiday lights, decorating the zoo train, animal buildings, trees and specially designed silhouettes. Music and other activities provide entertainment throughout each evening. Join us by entertaining some of the thousands of people who attend this event every year.

ZooLights runs nightly November 21st through December 31st, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (until 8:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays). ZooLights will be closed November 22nd, December 24th and 25th. A media preview night will be held on November 21st.

Performances will be booked for every night that ZooLights is in operation. Groups will be asked to perform a seasonal program approximately thirty minutes in length. A piano, cd/cassette player, music stand, chairs, and a platform will be provided for the Elephant Plaza Stage. A small public address system will be available, but the space lends itself very well to non-amplified performances.

A second performance area is located in the zoo's entry plaza from December 7 – 23. This canopy can hold groups of 15 or less, and while electricity is available, there will be no PA, music stands, piano or music player available.

Group members and chaperones (if required) will receive free ZooLights admission (does not include train) and are welcome to enjoy the entire evening's festivities. The zoo provides one chaperone ticket for every five performers.
The week of December 26th through December 31st is a great time to perform— visitors are still in the holiday spirit and each evening is very well attended!
