Welcome the newest member of our Asian elephant family
The long wait is over. After more than 20 months of pregnancy, Rose-Tu, a 30-year-old Asian elephant at the Oregon Zoo, gave birth at 4:29 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1.

When can I see the calf?
Soon! Forest Hall at Elephants is closed while the newborn calf and mother bond. Check back here for updates.
Is it a boy or girl?
Early indications are that it's a girl. Our vet staff will confirm once Rose-Tu is comfortable with them doing an exam.
What's the calf's name?
No name yet, but we'll share as soon as there is one!
