Welcome Tula-Tu, the newest member of the elephant family

The long wait is over. After more than 20 months of pregnancy, Rose-Tu, a 30-year-old Asian elephant at the Oregon Zoo, gave birth at 4:29 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1.

When can I see the calf?
Tula-Tu and the rest of the herd can be seen together inside Forest Hall. This area is open to zoo guests from around 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with limited capacity and viewing times. Hours are subject to change, and the area may be closed if Rose and her calf need quiet time.

Is Tula a boy or girl?
She's a girl! 

What does her name signify?
Tula-Tu's name was chosen by care staff to reflect both her individual character and significance to the herd.
